Talk on Tuesday-Corrie Ten Boom

Corrie ten Boom
is
a
lady
who loved Jesus.

She is best known for her and her family's role
in hiding Jews in their home, as well as working with the Dutch resistance
in the Netherlands during World War 2.

They constructed a false wall in Corrie's bedroom
and the "hiding place" was entered
through a shelf in her closet.

Corrie's great grandfather owned a watch repair shop
and the business was handed down in the Ten Boom family.
His daughter Corrie worked with her father and was
the first Dutch woman to receive her watchmaker licence.

Not only was the family business handed down to the next generations,
but so was a love for God and the Jewish people.
They were a hospitable family, always helping those in need.

On February 28, 1944, their kindness was betrayed.
A man came into the shop stating they were hiding Jewish people
and that his wife got arrested and could he borrow some money to help
her get out of jail.
Later that day, the Nazi's came and raided their home.
They searched and searched but never found those hiding in the "Hiding Place".

The ten Boom family was taken to jail,
and then eventually to concentration camps.

This is an amazing true story of
courage, forgiveness, fortitude, love, and light,
in a place full of darkness and evil.

Corrie and her sister Betsy (who died while in the camp) were able
to lead many women to Jesus,
and how they were able to, is undeniably  miraculous.
Betsy said to her younger sister Corrie, (who was struggling to forgive)

"There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still."

They had a wonderful relationship with Jesus
that spilled out to everyone they met.
A simple trusting in Jesus.

Corrie was released from the concentration camp
one week before all the women her age were to be executed.
She was 52 years of age.
Her release was due to a clerical error.
She spent the remainder of her years
sharing about the goodness of God around the world.

(This is the back of the postcard that I put together to give for this devotional.)

This is truly an inspiring story and so
perfect for today with so much
persecution of Christians around the world.

May you be encouraged today to know that,
God knows every situation that you are in,
and that He has a plan for you.
He has not forgotten about you,
but wants to use you for His glory.

Blessings to you,

Sunday Ponderings

I've been thinking of the precious lives lost this past week
as they stood in their classroom
with a gun pointed in their face.

Have you ever mentally put yourself in their shoes?
Does your heart start beating faster.
This is not what they were planning as they got out of their beds
that morning to start their day.

We all have numbered days.
A lot of people don't live like they do.
I know I don't always.

Oh I know I'm going to heaven and live forever with the saints
who have gone before me,
and with my Heavenly Father and Saviour,
but I too get caught up with things here on earth.
I don't mean that we can't have fun,
but there are things that I know to do
but procrastinate about.

Numbering our days is something we have to learn to do.
It's not a morbid thing in the sense that we are always thinking about dying,
but rather living our life
for the glory of God.
By sharing the beauty of Jesus inside of us
wherever we are
and
whomever we are with.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of these precious people.

How will you live today?

Blessings to you,

Jesus Loves Me, This I Know, For the Bible Tells Me So

Talk on Tuesday

Do you remember that song that you learned in Sunday School?

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

Matthew 18:1-5

Such a sweet song.
It's probably one of the first songs a lot of us ever sung.
And because we are always young at heart, it never grows old.

Last Night I shared about the history of this beloved children's hymn.

But first I have to share with you how it came to be that I shared about this.
I've said before about how God uniquely lets me know
what it is that I'm to share with the ladies at the Windsor Life Centre.

I was visiting my folks/family the first weekend of August.
My sister and I visited with our cousins who we grew up with,
but are now both working and living in England.

This picture is from a few years ago but same place and mostly the same people.
We got to sharing about coming to know Jesus so many years ago as young girls.
It was a special visit.

Then on Sunday, the church we belonged to when coming to know Jesus,
celebrated their 46th Anniversary.

For me, it was a time to reflect back on my salvation and the early days of our church.

Then, my sister in law, was sharing with me a book she was reading,
and how a portion of what she was reading prompted her to search more,
bringing her to the author of "Jesus Loves Me"
As she began sharing a bit of the story I knew what I was going to be sharing about.
For me, it was just a sweet reminder from God about that time so long ago,
when I decided to ask Jesus into my heart at the age of nine.
I simply believed.
And like the song says, "for the Bible tells me so".

Anna Bartlett Warner

This is the back of the postcard I made for the ladies.
It gives a quick overview.
To read more information go here

This is the front of the postcard.
I changed it to Sepia on PicMonkey
Definitely from a vintage children's book.

This is an older picture of the Warner home on Constitution Island.

Here is a newer photograph.
There used to be tours but I'm not sure if that has stopped
due to the unstable condition of the building.
You can see a small tour here on You Tube.

The original furniture and fixtures remain in the home.
That is where Anna sat and penned the words, "Jesus Loves Me."

I found an adorable video of a seven year old girl singing this song.

She does a beautiful job.

Anna died in 1915.

Anna and her sister Susan are buried at the West Point Cemetery.
They are the only civilians buried there.

Remember, you are never too old to sing this song.
Yes, Jesus Loves Me
For the Bible tells me so.

Who Can Compare?

Press Play!

I've been listening to this song all week,

 singing it out loud,

and in my head.

So I thought maybe you'd like to do the same.

It's a beautiful song.

There is no one like our God!

And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord;
Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints.
For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord?
Psalm 89:5-6

There is nothing that you are going through that God can't deliver you out of.

Be of good cheer my friend,

Blessings,

"Your Love is Like a Waterfall"

I'm starting with this video of Chris Tomlin so that you can listen to it
while you look through the pictures.
Since they're about waterfalls.
(Smile)

Last weekend, DH and I celebrated our 21st anniversary by doing some Daytripping Adventures.
These pictures are from our second day
Have you ever grew up or lived somewhere for a long time
and completely missed some of the most beautiful scenery that was so nearby?
 Well I did.
I'll show you on a map.
1. Is where I live now. Windsor, Ontario
(don't know why it's not on there, it's bigger than the towns they have there)
2. Is where I was born and grew up and lived until I moved to Windsor
(Guelph is so central to a lot of beautiful little places)
3. Hamilton, Dundas, Ancaster are on the Niagara Escarpment so there are many waterfalls.
How I missed this I'll never know.
Now this waterfall is not one of them.
It is part of the mill which is where I thought the start of the trail was.
I was wrong, but I took pictures and we enjoyed the area.
This is a popular place for weddings.
They have banquet rooms here and a dining room.
There was a wedding the day we were strolling the area.
Trying to find a trail.
So beautiful.
We managed to find the trail.
Had to get back in the car though.
Good thing my DH can figure out a map better than I can.
This wasn't a long walk to get to.
There's something that happens to my soul
as I approach a waterfall.
I love the sight and sound and smell of the whole experience.
It doesn't compare to Niagara Falls,
but they are beautiful none the less.
Now that I know Chris Tomlin's song, it comes to my mind and I sing it in my head.
(I'm kind that way)
The words that Chris Tomlin used to write the song was from Psalm 42.
There is the DH.
The Mrs.
It was like being in another world.
The trees overhead and all around.
Everything else seemed so far away.
It was nice to read up on the history of the Mills around the area.
Most of them are not being used for their original purpose anymore.
There was a bikini girl having her pictures taken at the base of the falls.
So glad for the crop feature.
We've been married for 21 years.
It's been a journey.
A journey well worth the twists and turns and having to turn around to go in another direction.
To get to the place of pure enjoyment and a sense of awe at the goodness of God.
I hope you enjoyed this little trip.
I have more to show later.

Blessings to you!
