Is any thing too hard for the Lord?

Talk on Tuesday

One of my recent devotions with the ladies at WLC was about Sarah.
The life story of Abraham and Sarah is so amazing to me.
There are so many gems to find.

In Genesis 11:27-29 we first find out about Abram and Sarai.
But verse 30 packs a huge statement.

"But Sarai was barren; she had no child."

This is the first thing we know about them.

What is the statement that is standing out in your life right now?
What is the thing that seems IMPOSSIBLE?
(Front of the postcard)
Just a few verses later, in Genesis 12:2 God says to Abram,

"...And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing..."

God immediately addresses the impossibility with a promise!
And God reiterated that promise many times.
Each time God spoke about the promise He was more specific.
The problem for Abram and Sarai was that it was taking longer than they cared for.
Sound familiar?

God had an amazing plan for this couple
that went so far beyond what they could humanly comprehend.
Sound familiar?

They decided that they would help God a bit.
Sarai thought it would be a good idea for her husband to have a baby with her maid.
Abram obliged.
The birth of their child caused bitterness between Sarai and Hagar.

Fast forward a few years.
Abram is 99 and Sarai is 90.
The promise is about to come to pass.

But just before that happens God does something really cool.
He changes their names!
In Genesis 17:5 God says,
"No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations."
vs 15
“As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai,
but Sarah shall be her name.
And I will bless her and also give you a son by her;
 then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations;
kings of peoples shall be from her.”

Shortly after this the Lord says to Abraham that He will be paying a visit in the spring,
and Sarah will have a son.
Sarah laughs cause she is really old.

God says,
"Is any thing too hard for the Lord?"

Whatever you think is impossible is possible if God has spoken His promise to you.

We all know what happened
Sarah had a son.
They named him Isaac.
Abraham and Sarah were the mother and father of nations.
Just like God said.
(back of the postcard)

Don't give up.
Don't lose heart.
When the promise comes, only God can get the glory and it will be amazing!

This song is by Don Moen and it's called,
"God will make a way"
It's an older song but the words are still true.

 Blessings,

  2. Amen! Remembering that nothing is too hard for Him, and that His no or wait may be for my protection and is always good. And another amen in wanting it all to ever and only be for His glory. Blessings!
